Confidential Support
If you have experienced sexual misconduct or discrimination and/or harassment, or witnessed it happening to someone else, you may want to talk to someone confidentially.
What is Confidential Support?
Confidential support means the person you talk to (a counselor, a member of the clergy) can’t share what you discuss with them with anyone else unless you give them permission.
They are legally required to report cases where they think you might cause harm to yourself or others, or the sexual misconduct involves abuse of someone under age 18.
Confidential Support Options
Whether you are:
- an undergraduate student
- a graduate student
- an employee (staff or faculty)
there are several places at Tufts that you can contact for confidential support.
Counseling & Mental Health Service (CMHS)
- During regular business hours - tell the staff person who answers that it is an emergency and they will connect you to an available counselor
- During weekends, holidays, or after hours - follow the phone prompts to be connected to a Counselor-on-Call.
Confidential emotional support is available from Tufts CMHS counselors 24/7 to help you understand, cope with and recover from sexual misconduct or discrimination/harassment. This support is available regardless of whether you are prepared to report the misconduct. CMHS counseling services are free and available to all undergraduates.
