About
Who We Are
We are a team of 10+ people who are committed to supporting equal opportunities at Tufts for students, staff, faculty, patients, visitors and other community members. We come from a variety of lived experiences, cultures and backgrounds. In addition, some of us have practiced law, some are social workers, and some have previous experience working in social justice nonprofits. We speak English, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic and Farsi and span just as many religions and backgrounds as well.
Together, we make up the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO).
What We Do
The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) is a compliance-focused office at Tufts and our jurisdiction lies within specific federal, state and local laws. The OEO’s policies and procedures reflect and maintain compliance within these national, state and local laws.
At the OEO, we:
- strive towards equity for all members of the Tufts community: this includes students, staff, faculty, patients, visitors and anyone interacting with Tufts on campus, even if they are not members of the Tufts community (i.e. Uber/Lyft & delivery drivers).
- provide equal opportunity in all university, educational and/or work environments.
- respond to reports and complaints of discrimination and harassment from students, staff, faculty, patients, visitors and other community members.
